    BACKROAD ADVENTURE CAPTURES

Forgotten Main Street is all about backroad adventure captures—wandering the two-lane highways to find the quiet wonders, rusty relics, and forgotten foundations of the communities that built small-town USA, then turning those discoveries into stories we can share with the world.

Peep & Dixie

We are lifelong friends and battle buddies passionate about photography, travel, and adventure. This personal project aims to encourage others to experience the joy of pairing a Fujifilm camera with different lenses to achieve film-like images right out of the camera.

We love hearing from our followers, and you may be helping us choose the next destination!

Welcome to Forgotten Main Street, where art meets adventure on the two-lane roads of small-town USA. This project follows two battle buddies—Fielding Piepereit (Peep) and Robert Trawick (Dixie)—as we wander the backroads chasing quiet wonders, rusty relics, and the forgotten foundations of the communities that built this country.

We started FMS with a simple idea: modern Fujifilm cameras paired with vintage manual-focus lenses to create retro-inspired frames with real-world character. Along the way, we realized the heart of this project was never just about the gear—it’s about the journey. Today, FMS has grown into a backroad adventure project, where we use a mix of vintage glass, older Fujifilm X lenses, and modern, affordable lenses that all share one thing in common: they render with soul.

Each lens is a different paintbrush with its own quirks, strengths, and flaws. We choose our tools not for clinical sharpness, but for the way they draw light, bend color, and whisper a little history into each frame. We still keep the edit light and the process honest—minimal post-processing so you experience these places much like we did: raw, imperfect, and full of charm.

As we crisscross the country, we steer away from interstates and big-city skylines, aiming instead for:

  • Two-lane wonders that most people fly past at 70 mph
  • Rusty relics resting behind old fences and broken windows
  • Forgotten foundations of cafes, garages, motels, and main streets that once buzzed with life

Our cameras become storytellers, documenting the layers of time etched into brick, neon, steel, and sun-faded paint. Every stop is an excuse to slow down, listen to the echoes of the past, and share those stories with anyone who still believes the best parts of America are often found just off the beaten path.

If you’ve ever felt the urge to pull over for a collapsing sign, a weathered truck, or a quiet main street at blue hour—you’re in the right place. Forgotten Main Street is our invitation to ride along, see differently, and rediscover the backroads that still hold this country together.
